EEG was done to rule \r\nout seizures. \r\n\r\nProcedure: A 21 channel digital audiovisual electroencephalogram was \r\nperformed at the patient's bedside. The 10/20 International system of \r\nelectrode placement was used and both bipolar and referential electrode \r\nmontages were monitored. \r\nEKG: A prolonged lead I EKG rhythm strip approximated a heart rate of 190 \r\nbeats/minute.\r\n\r\nBackground:  Patient was intubated. In this state, the background was \r\nconsisted of generalized low amplitude low delta (0.5-1 Hz) with myogenic \r\nartifact over bialteral frontal electrodes. No A-P gradient, no posterior \r\ndominant rhythm was present. No state changes were recorded. No reactivity \r\nwas noticed. \r\n\r\nEpileptiform activity: No epileptiform activity were noted.\r\nSeizures: No clinical or subclinical seizures were captured during the \r\nrecording.\r\n\r\nActivation Procedures:\r\nHyperventilation was not performed. \r\nPhotic stimulation was not performed. . \r\n\r\nInterpretation: \r\nAbnormal Routine EEG in comatose state due to:\r\n1. Generalized delta slow background\r\n2. Absent state variation. \r\n3. Generalized low amplitude\r\n\r\nSummary: The generalized slowing in low amplitude of the background \r\nactivity seen is a nonspecific finding indicative of severe diffuse \r\ncerebral dysfunction.No clinical or subclinical seizures were captured \r\nduring the recording.
